Ski instructor, a myth?
Ski tuition is subject to strict rules in France, in order to meet high quality and safety standards. Ski & snowboard instructors practising in a regular and lawful way have a state qualification issued by the French sports & leisure ministry, or in certain cases, have a non-French degree which was recognised by the same ministry. This is the base on which instructors are free to either join a recognised ski school or work independently.
Off-piste & powder
The mountains are synonymous to freedom, and off-piste skiing is a sensational experience. The Grand Massif area is therefore a huge playground for off-piste fanatics, with numerous great powder runs. However, the mountain can be a hazardous place for anybody with less than a perfect knowledge of the environment. This is why it is recommended never to go off-piste without a professional guide or instructor.
