Frequently Asked Questions

1. Where do I find accommodation close to the slopes, shops and ski school meeting points?

Flaine is a doorstep skiing resort, with a relatively compact car free centre. Whatever your accommodation, you’re always a few steps away from shops and ski runs. The top and bottom parts of the resort can be joined in only a few minutes by using special lifts. Even the extremity of the resort is only a few minutes away from the slopes.

And what about the chalets in Le Hameau de Flaine?
Le Hameau lies 2 km away, but is linked with the resort centre by a free shuttle bus. Advanced skiers can reach the slopes over a path, weather and snow permitting.

2. Is snow guaranteed?

The natural snowfall in Flaine allows a long season and excellent ski conditions all through the season. Flaine enjoys one of the best snow records in the French Alps. 218 snow cannons guarantee a quality snow cover on the more delicate parts of the area, as well as in the beginning and at the end of the season.

The snow report is updated daily during the season.

7. I’m skiing for the first time. What’s on offer for beginners?

Certain slopes are particularly suited for beginners. 4 lifts are completely free (Pré chairlift, Bissac drag lift and rope tow, Forum bucket lift). After your very first runs and lifts, you can access a few extra lifts at a special price before taking the full area ski pass. Learning to ski requires a structured learning process. It is therefore stronlgy recommended to take at least beginners' lessons in one of the local ski/snowboard schools. They all propose English-speaking lessons. Special ski equipment, except clothing, can be hired from the numerous ski shops in resort.
