Grandes Platières cable car and the 'Desert de Platé'

La surprise est totale, quand en sortant de la gare du téléphérique, vous découvrez le panorama exceptionnel qui vous est offert. Derrière la Chaine des Fiz au premier plan, tous les plus grands sommets du Massif du Mont-Blanc vous font face: l'Aiguille Verte, L'Aiguille du Midi, les Trois Mont-Blanc, les Dômes de Miage…Un paysage époustouflant qui ne manque pas de majesté. D'autant que le tour d'horizon ne s'arrête pas là; Massif des Aravis, Dents Blanches, Belledonne, Vercors, Jura… par beau temps, le spectacle est inoubliable!


The Cable car takes you up from 1600m to 2500m in less than 12 minutes.

As you reach the top, you cannot help being bewildered by the exceptional view over the Mont-Blanc, just a few kilometers away.  from the top, you will discover the majestic summits of the Mont-Blanc range (Aiguille Verte, Aiguille du Midi, Dômes de Miage). At the same time, you are surrounded by the aravis mountain range, Denst Blanches, Belledonne, vercors, Jura. On a clear day, the scenery is unforgettable!

Désert de Platé

The 'Désert de Platé' will take you aback, as you discover the moon-like scenery, formed by chemical and physical erosion. It is the biggest "Lapiaz" formation in Europe, a geological curiosity.

At the top you can learn all about the Désert de Platé in the environmental exhibition run by the Sixt Fer à Cheval Nature Reserve, Nature et Image and the French National Forestry Commission.
