Art, Culture and DesignA prestigious legacyThe founders of the resort, Eric and Sylvie Boissonnas, commissioned the renowned Bauhaus architect Marcel Breuer to design the resort. He is best known for major architectural creations (the “Palais de l'Unesco” in Paris, the Bijenkorf in Rotterdam or the Whitney Museum of New York), but also for his work on furniture (the Wassily chair). A Picasso in the gardenEric and Sylvie Boissonnas brought art and culture to the resort. . This is why we can find monumental works of art throughout the resort: The ‘Tête de Femme’ by PICASSO, the ‘Trois Hexagones’ by VASARELY, the ‘Boqueteau’ by DUBUFFET, the ‘Fontaine’ by BURY… Classical musicClassical music has found its place in the heart of the local population from the beginning. The "Académie Internationale de Musique de Flaine" and "Musique à Flaine" continue the tradition and fill the summers in Flaine with music. Flaine's cultural centreThe cultural centre hosts exhibitions with work of regional and international artists. The centre also holds a library with youth corner and reading lounge. A weekly guided visit through the centre takes you through the resort’s history, and around works of art. |
