Flaine, French Alps

A unique place to spend a summer holiday !

FLAINE was created in 1969 by Eric BOISSONNAS , in the centre of a natural bowl at 1600m altitude, close to Geneva and Chamonix Mont Blanc. It is the youngest of major mountain resorts in the French Alps and has been designed for maximum convenience and comfort.
Perfectly accessible and at the same time a hidden treasure, Flaine offers an exceptional natural setting stimulating both relaxation and concentration.

The resort is spread over three levels: " Flaine-Forêt " (1700m), " Flaine-Forum " (1600m) and " Flaine-Front de Neige " (1500m) are connected by two elevators and two pedestrian trails, 24 hrs a day.

The car free centre allows you to get around resort with total peace of mind. Children can play outside, in the centre of resort and in total safety.

Services, facilities, restaurants and bars are grouped together in - or around - one of the two shopping centres in resort (Flaine Forum and Flaine Forêt), close to one another.

You will find Flaine a tranquil "elsewhere", allowing you to find new energy during your summer holiday ...

Activity venues are situated close to, or in the centre of resort.

THE LEGEND SAYS THAT
once upon a time, a huge giant came and lay down in the mountains of Flaine to sleep for a while after a long walk. He rested his head at the top of the valley and thus created the name for the place: Flainoz, an old French word for pillow. The legend stops here, vanished with the dreams of the giant. Flainoz became Flainaz and finally Flaine.
