Going on vacation to Flaine with your dog?

Tips and authorized hikes

Flaine is an ideal summer destination for enjoying the mountains, and your four-legged companion can absolutely join you! However, some precautions are necessary to ensure their well-being and respect the mountain environment.

Essentials to Pack

Before heading out on a hike or exploring the resort, make sure you have:

  • Their up-to-date vaccination record.
  • A bowl and plenty of water, as temperatures can rise even in the mountains.
  • A leash for regulated areas and risk zones (presence of livestock or guard dogs).

Rules to Follow

In Flaine, certain guidelines must be respected:

  • Dogs are not allowed in the Grandes Platières nature reserve to protect local wildlife.
  • Swimming is prohibited in the lakes of Flaine, Vernant, and Airon.
  • Beware of ticks! Check your dog after each walk and use a suitable tick repellent.
  • Dog waste bags are available at several locations throughout the resort—please use them to keep the area clean.
  • In case of a veterinary emergency, contact the St. Martin Veterinary Hospital in Allonzier-la-Caille (+33 (0)4 50 600 900).
