Discover the secrets of optical illusion with this fun and creative thaumatrope workshop, inspired by one of the earliest forms of cinema and animation! Using drawings, colours and imagination, participants create their own thaumatrope: a small illustrated disc featuring two different images which, when spun using strings, blend together into a single picture.

Throughout the workshop, both children and adults learn about the principle of persistence of vision while creating surprising and poetic animated effects. Everyone leaves with their own personalised creation and a better understanding of the very first visual animation techniques.

A creative, educational and accessible workshop, perfect for sparking both artistic and scientific curiosity!
